When visitors come to the forest, their focus is understandably on watching wildlife and enjoying the Wilderness. With so little time in the forest they often overlook the fact that protecting these wonderful animals they see, is a life threatening occupation. Because lion’s claws and bones are sought after by illegal wildlife trade.

Ruthless poaching gangs are willing to kill those who protect the lions. Many such earth heroes have lost their lives and others live constantly under threat of assault or worse.

From confronting timber smugglers to being attacked by wild animals, these unsung heroes suffer injuries ranging from snake bites to bullet wounds.
