Jim Corbett had referred to the tiger as a “large-hearted gentleman with boundless courage.”

Corbett National Park is the closest you can get to Heaven on Earth, as its landscape is varied and breathtaking. It is one of the finest national parks in India in the foothills of Himalayas, occupying a vast 1,400 sq. Km of wilderness. In the early 1900s, when Jim Corbett made this part of the world his home, tigers were in abundance and were found even in higher altitudes. Now they do not exist in these parts of the Himalayas due to rapid urbanisation and deforestation resulting from the ever-growing human population.

It is awe inspiring to capture these apex predators. India now has about 2,200 tigers left in the wild. Indian tigers are one of the most heavy-weight species surviving in the wild, with few males weighing more than 300 kilograms. When you look a tiger in the eye, you experience an adrenaline rush. I saw my first tiger in the wild after 4 safaris.

So, do not give up if you want to witness this regal creation, it is worth the wait 🙂
