Territorial fight turns into rare cannibal act by tiger

‘’The animal that got killed seems to be a tigress while the cannibal is a tiger. Though there have been instances of cannibalism among animals, but in tigers, it is rare,” said Kanha’s field director said.

According to experts, the hunting tiger did not mean to satiate its hunger by eating the tigress. “It is an extension of the territorial fight,” said an expert.

BHOPAL: In a worst and rare case of infighting between big cats, an adult tigress was killed and eaten by a tiger in Kanha National Park of Madhya Pradesh. This is a fresh instance of cannibalism reported among MP tigers, said sources. More such incidents were reported from other reserves recently.
